It is said that we all have a purpose in life. And this is no exception for our animal companions.
Meisha, a lab-terrier-spaniel mix, was three years old when she was diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia (“AIHA,” also known as “IMHA”) on January 21, 1992. After many years, Meisha died from this devastating disease.
Tasha, a lab-terrier-chow mix, was almost four years old when she was diagnosed with IMHA on August 17, 2002. After six days, Tasha died from this devastating disease.
Autoimmune disorders are serious health conditions affecting dogs and other animals. Scientists estimate 50% of dogs with hemolytic anemia will die from the condition, and this disorder is on the rise.
Joanne and David Dickson’s experience with their special pet, Meisha, and her battle with AIHA prompted them to look for a solution to this deadly disorder. Jean Brudd’s experience with her “soul mate dog,” Tasha, Tasha's battle with IMHA, and Jean’s quest for answers led her to Joanne Dickson and her website, Meisha's Hope.
