When my beloved dogs Tasha and Niki died in 2002, nothing anyone said or did could console me. Some friends and family members and even a veterinarian or two were thoughtful enough to send condolence cards or flowers. Mostly, as I have learned through speaking with hundreds of other pet guardians over the years, a common thread among those of us who have lost a pet is that our grief is not understood, not comfortable for others, and, worse yet, not acknowledged. True loving support is difficult, if not impossible, to find.

What Is Behind The Name?
Simply, a traumatic life-altering event. It’s been interesting to see how my life has evolved since 2002, when I lost two of my beloved dogs, Tasha and Niki, to a poisonous vet drug, and I became an unwilling animal advocate to have the drug removed from the market.
My sister, Carolyn, sent me this beautiful handmade greeting card (see below) from her fur-children that touched my heart deeply. Gestures like this spurred me on and gave me the strength to get through some very difficult and painful years. My life became “all about” the animals, not just my dogs who had gone to the Rainbow Bridge, but the animals whose lives were adversely affected or snuffed out much too soon.
By 2006, I was burned out and was tired of fighting "Big Pharma." I was well on my way to finding my passion in life, so the Kindred Spirits Gift Shop was created. I found I love being able to provide “Soulful Gifts to Lift the Spirit” and making people feel good, even in their darkest hours. But I always loved the “Auntie Angel” name and knew one day something big and very special would come of it.
It took five years to figure it all out, how I could combine all the things I love into one venture. Not finding what I wanted on the market, I decided to design/make my own inspirational and memorial jewelry to honor our furry family members. Through Auntie Angel Designs, I am doing just that.
My "Paws for a Cause" charitable jewelry has several pieces that are donated to the animal nonprofits indicated in their product descriptions, and this line of heart-felt jewelry for the working woman will continue to grow. Also now available to my gift shop is my line of mitochondrial awareness jewelry and exclusive "Angels for Mito" soy candle, all of which have a portion of the sales donated to mitochondrial nonprofit foundations to support efforts in finding a cure for mito disease.
So while “Auntie Angel” is me, Auntie Angel is for YOU and for all the furry critters we've been blessed to have in our lives. Please let me know how I may serve you, and thank you for being a part of the wonderous journey!
Offered with love,
~ Jean B. Brudd, “Auntie Angel”
